We take a look at Hanson's idea of people accessing their super for accomodation payments, and compare it to the the first home owner's grant and improving childcare supply. We also look at Iran - some more details on the attacks, Trump, Kurdish forces - and the claims of Iran involvement in attacks on Jews in Australia. We also hear about Jason Ball, former AFL player and gay rights advocate, and his experiences as a gay AFL player. Lastly, I take an ongoing look at how things have changed - and how the Warragamba Dam solved one problem, but was symptomatic of how the costs of dealing with expansion can add up.

I take a look at "MFW" and their challenges to the Sandlilands show on commercial FM radio, the history of turmoil in Iran and "Woman, Life, Freedom" in the light of the recent war, and how society & the economy have changed from times past where we could raise a family on one income.

I look at Israel & Gaza, and how things have played out in Australia. Then, there's some initiatives at Ryde Council and hand wringing over shared e-bikes. Lastly, I play a past recording where I discussed the mythology of King Arthur with Melbourne enthusiast Lev Lafayette.

Part 1 of a series - looking at the US, abuses in the Vietnam War and others, but also how the US can do good at times ( though sorta by accident), my dealings with the ATO - going past lawyers and the local member, I eventually got satisfaction. There's also my frustrations dealing with bank websites and the frustrating need to create an account just to see an act. We also take a look at the Hornsby fountain, and hear from author Melissa Lukashenko on dealing with mental illness, life disruption and appearing on "Who wants to be a millionaire?".

We have a look at the hype around "5000 year batteries", some good stuff happening around the world, and police being able to access tollbooth photos. There's Dr. Joseph Toscano looking at how some global conflicts get a lot more attention than others, and Prof. Clinton Fernandes reviews Wikileaks to get a better idea of what the US State Department are in fact trying to achieve internationally.

Roving Spotlight 17/7/26 - With AJ - FIFA & Iran - and the PNG Chiefs; Troy Stolz on pokies

In discussion with a past show of AJ's hitup - looking at FIFA and Iran, and also foreign policy criticised by the UAP but what we see as positive - the support for the PNG chiefs. Also, a past discussion with Troy Stolz, whisleblower around pokies in pubs and clubs and the seriousness with which they approached money laundering and related issues - towards an interview with Cate Faehrmann of the Greens on the same issue in the next show.

Roving Spotlight 10/7/26 - Hanson & about turns; Eggs; Star Wars; Cooper Pedy, another JA & bicycles

We look again at One Nation, and how Karl Stefanovic - and Ross Coulthart have make such turns. What came first - chickens or eggs? And we hear from Diffusion Science Radio about where eggs came from. We look at why "Star Wars" feels a bit mythological, also with its own issues. Cooper Pedy - where they mine Opals, and it is reminiscent of ant hills. Then there's giving credit to past Bennelong  parliamentarian John Alexander. Lastly, we have a historical look at how bicycles changed the social scene in the UK.

Roving Spotlight 3/7/26 - Meteors, a meteor movie, Libyan glass & Testimony from the 1870s

We looking at why some meteors explode, while others hit the Earth, and consider the Chelabinsk meteor that exploded over Siberia in 2013. We look at past meteor impacts, including the meteor that killed off the dinosaurs and the hypothesised Deniliquin impact, what  could the largest known object to ever hit the earth, right here in what became Australia. It's thought that exploding meteors can fuse sand into glass, and we take a look at the rough hewn masterpiece of a documentary - "Fireballs - visitors from darker worlds". I also recite a testimony from the 1870s - reflecting on the significance of the industrial revolution.

Roving Spotlight 26/6/2026 - Hanson's Speech, Gross Domestic Product and Jim's Mowing

We take a look at Hanson's recent speech to the National Press Club, how much the idea of "Gross Domestic Product" misses in the world we live in, and a look at some of the criticism out there of Jim's mowing. We also hear from Mr. Bashful of Speaker's Corner near the Art Gallery on "What Really Matters" along with a joint recital of an Auden poem. I revisit soft power, this time taking a look at Radio Australia.

Roving Spotlight 19/6/2026 - Internet's broken promise, Wikipedia Collisions, WWI Japan connections

We take a look at how the Internet's promise has been broken - corporate abuse and enshitification, along with spam and scams, and people profiting from falsehood. I also review how I have mixed feelings about Wikipedia, we hear about ethics in criminal networks, and how Japan helped escort an Australian war fleet in WWI.

Roving Spotlight 12/6/2026 - Lies and Distortions from both Labor & Liberal, and advertising

We take a look at some past history of the LNP - where I can in fact find good things to say about them. Then, I look at some of the issues I've had with the Labor Party, before taking a look at whether what Labor has done - not to forgive them - but it is really so much worse than the form the Libs have had in the past? 

I also read a viewpoint from Banksy on advertising, and play a discussion I had with Mark about advertising - he comments that we are being shouted at as no generation before us has been.

Roving Spotlight 5/6/2026 - The budget & affordability; AI psychosis; the sun's motion & Stonehenge

The budget and the affordability of accommodation along with AI chatbots and AI psychosis - where you build up an unhealthy relationship with them.

We take a look at a trip across the Nullabor to Perth, thinking about Stonehenge and the movement of the sun across the sky, amongst other things. ( I missed out on talking about Japan).
