Well, a new year has come around! Here's a few things to check out:
Nuclear Power, Economics and Climate
I put together a compilation show on nuclear power. I also spoke about nuclear power, covid and bureaucracy on Gene Tunny's "Economics Explored" podcast. We reviewed a past Pirate look at the Housing market - lots of intriguing stuff from our guest Dr. Cameron Murray. But, also, I put forth on twitter about climate change, saying that the earth climate is a complex ( maybe chaotic ) system and can reasonably think our actions have had impacts. Really got some aggro there!. A while back I had a look at a then recent IPCC report, I think the commentary is still pertinent. Even further back, I wrote an article about the then-Howard Government's nuclear power initiatives. From long ago, but there's still some valuable lessons.
Astronomy, and the Deniliquin Impact
The Deniliquin impact is a hypothesised impact, the largest asteroid impact in the Earth's geological history ( well, we might have had bigger ones when the earth was still soft, but there's no record), centred on Deniliquin and reaching out to Shepparton. You can hear discussion of it in a recent show; I further developed ideas around astronomy in a later show.
Books for and against religion
I had a look at just how much our European civilisation owes to Christianity,
Israel and Gaza
I had a look at this issue, and interviewed some members of the Israeli Pirate Party. Going back, I had a look at some historical issues around Israel and the religious right in the US; you'll find more here
